A Letter to Chris, Donovan and Shuana  (Mike Reif, GVH Head Coach)   26 April 2010

I write this as but one member of Pete’s running community, which includes a grieving team, his last running coach and one of his best friends as we suffer our loss. We are all so saddened that you, and we, will no longer have Pete’s physical presence with us.    My deepest condolences go to all of you.  Simultaneously, we are relieved for Pete. He is finally at peace and in a safe place with his Lord.

Pete was always somewhere in my life, woven into its tapestry. He was a training partner during my best years, a star athlete whom I admired when I first made my way into the running scene, an organizer that provided opportunity after opportunity.
Pete just always seemed to be "there", somewhere in the scene. I'll bet there are hundreds that feel like me, as if we lost a part of our own lives, when Peter's flame expired. That is the testament of his life, that he filled the lives of others.
